Patrick Hughes

Born on February 4, 1938, Patrick, the oldest of 13 children, served a five-year apprenticeship with P. J. Prendergast before doing a sixth with Staff Ingham.

His best season came in 1954 when he won nine races.

Patrick nominated Farrney Fogg & Flower-de-Luce as the best he'd ridden.

His brother, John, was an apprentice with Walter Nightingall.
