William Harvey
Jockey William Harvey, aged 50, employed by Newmarket trainer Mr Tom Waugh, was killed on July 31, 1908 whilst exercising an unnamed two-year-old. The colt crossed its legs before throwing William and rolling on the unfortunate rider, severely fracturing his skill. William had ridden several winners in France and elsewhere when younger. His brother was killed by a horse in France. William never married.
