Irishman Patrick Hogan rode 13 winners over jumps between 1925 and 1932. He won on his first ride in England when Shotmaker, trained by Bob Gore at Findon, in Sussex, proved too good for his 11 rivals in the Lingfield Park Chase at that course on March 7, 1925, comfortably beating Royal Bucks, the mount of Billy Speck, by 10 lengths. Twelve-year-old Shotmaker and Patrick went on to score again at Bournemouth the following month, when taking the Poole Selling Hurdle by two lengths, however the horse was sold after the race and Patrick did not ride him again.

He steadily rode winners until the end of the 1928/29 season, including three on the chaser Sunny Wood during the 1927/28 campaign. There was then a lengthy gap before his final success, when Sea Devil won the Tangmere Selling Handicap Hurdle at Fontwell Park on October 6, 1932. With Patrick aboard for the first time, Sea Devil beat Souchong, ridden by Frank Grantham, by two lengths. Six months later, Frank Grantham died following a fall from Souchong in a Fontwell selling hurdle.

Patrick Hogan held a licence for just one more season. His British winners were, in chronological order:
