Brian Holley
c1952-2017
Born circa 1952, Brian Holley was a conditional jockey based with Frenchie Nicholson at Prestbury, Cheltenham and rode one winner.
That sole success came on Take Cover, trained by Frenchie Nicholson, in the Tenbury Selling Hurdle for three-year-olds at Worcester on 7 November 1970, drawing clear to win by a distance from Andy Turnell’s mount Sailor Drake. Take Cover progressed out of selling company to become a useful juvenile hurdler, winning next time out in the hands of John Cook, who also finished second on him in the 1971 Daily Express-sponsored Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham.
Brian finished second once and third once that season from a total of 19 mounts. He failed to register another win and relinquished his licence on 30 December 1971.
Brian Holley died in Newmarket on 22 March 2017, aged 65.
