Kevin Hodgson

Kevin Hodgson was born on May 16, 1960.

He was apprenticed to Peter Easterby and had his first ride, and first winner, in 1979.

In 1981 he had his best season with 26 winners including the Vaux Gold Tankard on Phil Bull's Angelo Salvini.

His biggest win came two years later when partnering Polly's Brother to victory in the Ayr Gold Cup. This was the middle leg of three straight wins for the horse and jockey.

Kevin also won three times on No Bombs in 1980 and, the following year, rode Mashin Time to three straight wins.

In October, 2000, he was thrown from Righty Ho at York after his mount clipped the heels of another horse. He sustained serious head and back injuries after being kicked by some of the other runners. He was taken to York and District Hospital.

The following year in May, riding Societe Generale at Hamilton, he was thrown to the ground after his mount swerved violently to his right and crashed through the running rails and down a steep bank. Kevin escaped serious injury.
