Bill is a 1948 graduate of Big Piney High School. Mr. Budd enlisted in the United States Air Force in September of 1950. He worked his way up to Staff Sergeant when he was discharged 1954.
Upon returning home he enrolled in the College of Commerce and Industry. While there, he was elected president of the Campus Young Republicans and served as State Chairman of Wyoming Republicans. Bill was initiated into Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity in December of 1955 and graduated with a Bachler of Science in 1959.
In the mid 1960’s, Bill formed a multi-line insurance agency in Riverton, WY. He served the local community by sitting on the city council for two years. Then from 1967 – 1986 he served as Director of Wyoming Mining Association in Casper. During this time, he organized and was president of the Mining States Coordination Council. He served as President of the Wyoming Association of Trade Executives working as chief lobbyist for the mining industry with the Wyoming Legislature and appeared before congressional committees in Washing ton D.C. He also served as a member of the Western Board of Governors of the American Mining Congress.
In 1986 he was a candidate for Governor of Wyoming. He lost that race to Governor Ed Herschler but proudly accepted the appointment to head the Economic Development oand Stabilization Board and was reappointed by Govenor Mike Sullivan in 1987.
Presently, he is a partner in a firm of underwriters in Cheyenne. He is very active in the Episcopal Church and a volunteer with the “Meals On Wheels” program.
