Dedicated to his sport of choice, Aaron Camis’ pursuit to be an outstanding wrestler is truly noteworthy. At a young age, Aaron began his wrestling quest by participating in the USA Youth wrestling program in Big Piney. After a number of successful seasons with the program, it was time to elevate his skills to the high school level. Unfortunately, at that time Big Piney High School had no wrestling program.
For the next three seasons, young Camis would travel to Kemmerer several times a week to practice and participate as a Kemmerer Ranger. During his freshman season, Camis earned a sixth-place finish at the 3A Wyoming State Wrestling meet. He improved on that initial year by earning fourth-place finishes at the state meet in both his sophomore and junior seasons.
As a senior, Aaron Camis was able to wrestle for Big Piney High School. In BPHS’ inaugural season as a sanction sport, Camis would help lead the young Punchers with his experience and leadership qualities. Aaron’s dedication and commitment paid off as he was one of Big Piney’s first ever Wyoming State Wrestling Champion! During his final three years as a wrestler, Camis enjoyed 85 wins on the mats while losing a mere 28 times.
As a senior, Aaron participated in football for the first time as a high school athlete. His tough nosed attitude earned him a spot on the defensive team as a linebacker and helped the Punchers earn a spot in the 2A State Play-offs.
