From 1982 through 1985, Heath Hetrick participated in four sports at Big Piney High School, but it was his phenomenal accomplishments as a track athlete that landed him an inductee for the Big Piney Athletic Hall of Fame. As a junior, Heath stood proud on the awards as the winner of both the 110m high hurdles and the 300m intermediate hurdles. The following year as a senior, Heath made it known that he was one of the finest track athletes in the state of Wyoming. Heath won the 110m hurdles in a Class 2A record time just missing the over-all state record by .01 of a second. His Class 2A 110m record lasted until the spring of 1998. More impressive was his time of 38.8 in the 300m hurdles that still stands as a record to this day. It is the longest running track record at the state meet in the 2A classification and second longest in all classes. He finished his senior year meet winning a gold medal in the 200m and adding a second place finish in the 100m. Overall he placed in all six of the events he was entered in at the meet. As both a junior and a senior, Heath was invited to compete in the Wyoming Meet of Champions which brought together the best performers from all schools within the state. Heath ran away with victories in each of his hurdle races in both years and also was garnered the High Point Award at the meets. Heath went on and finished his track career competing for the Bobcats of Montana State University in Bozeman.
