Maicille Carr received a degree in education from the University of Wyoming and continued her education, taking classes at Utah State University. She taught a variety of subjects on all levels during her twenty-eight years at Sublette County School District No. 9, most of which were spent in teaching English in the Middle School.
After retirement, she continued to work within the school system as the assistant high school librarian and as a substitute teacher. Mrs. Carr was instrumental in forming the Big Piney Fine Arts Council to bring a variety of
cultural programs to the community and the school. She served as chairwoman of this organization for several years. She was Chairwoman of the Big Piney Centennial Committee, which was responsible for many activities and the town beautification programs. She wrote and received grants for he pavilions in Big Piney and Marbleton and collected and arranged material for the time capsule.
She played a major role in the founding of the Green River Valley Museum. Mrs. Carr was involved in many organizations, including the Big Piney Town Council, the Camp Fire Girls, the Sublette County Fair, 4-H, the Sublette County Library Board, and Friends of the Library. She was especially well known for organizing and conducting the school spelling contests, where she pronounced the spelling words for the candidates and kept a fine sense of fairness and compassion for the young spellers.
