With somewhat of a competitive nature, Heather Dana established herself as an outstanding multi-sport athlete who earned All-State honors in both basketball and track. The 1997 graduate not only had a great career as a Lady Puncher but continued receiving honors as a collegiate athlete as well. As one of the finest basketball players in Big Piney history, Heather earned Rocky Mountain All-Conference honors three straight years and was named first team All-State twice over the same period. She was also honored as the 2A Player of the Year as voted on by the coaches in the 2A classification. To go along with the Player of the Year title, Heather was selected to play in the Wyoming/Montana Classic and a week later brought her talents to the Wyoming Coaches Association's All-Star game. Capping off her high school career, Heather was selected the recipient of the Bob Carey Award which is presented annually to the most outstanding female basketball player in the state of Wyoming based on her career high school achievements. As a track athlete, Heather was an All-State performer as both a junior and a senior. As a junior on a stat runner-up team, her second place finishes in both the shot and discus earned her the All-State honors. During her senior season, she showed her competitiveness by winning the discus with a throw of 123'9”. She currently hold the school records for both the shot and the discus. As a senior, her efforts help lead the Lady Puncher to a surprising third place finish at the state meet. Heather continued her outstanding basketball play by starting for Western Montana where she was selected All-Conference as both a freshman and a sophomore. She then transferred to University of Redlands, CA, where she again made All-Conference teams for her final two years of eligibility and holds the career free throw shooting percentage record at that school. Now her competitive nature finds her on her husband's golf course setting course records as she plays.
