Jace Marx
Class of 2015
In the spring of 2012, Puncher track freshman Jace Marx got a taste of gold as a member of the 4x100m relay team. Marx evidently like the taste of championships as he continued his track career through his years at Big Piney High School and extended it as a member of the University of Wyoming Cowboy’s Indoor and Outdoor Track teams. By the time Marx completed his Big Piney track career, Jace had earned seven individual state champion honors, the most of any Puncher athlete in any individual sport.
As a sophomore, Jace stood atop of the awards stand as the individual champion of the 100m dash, the 200m dash, and as a member of the champion 4X100m relay team. As a junior, Marx again swept the 100m and 200m dashes at the Wyoming State Track Meet. He added a silver medal to his collection by placing second in the 400m dash. He and his team mates added a 4th place finish in the 4x400m relay. As a junior of Big Piney’s Indoor track team, Jace placed 8th in both the 200m and 400m dashes at the All-Class Wyoming Indoor State Track Meet.
It was during Marx’s senior season that caught the eye of UW coaches. As a member of Big Piney’s short lived Indoor track program, Jace made history as being the first Puncher track athlete to make it into the finals at the prestigious Simplot Games at Idaho State University. Later in the indoor season, Marx achieved third place finishes in the 55m, 200m and 400m dashes at the All-Class Wyoming State Indoor Meet. As the outdoor season progress during his senior year, Marx set BPHS school records in the 100m, the 200m and the 400m dashes.
At the Wyoming State Track meet, Marx garnered gold in each of those events.
Highlights of Marx’s achievements at the University of Wyoming include:
In Indoors, Jace has achieved the 8th fastest time ever in the 200m and is a member of the UW school record holding 4X400m relay team. As an outdoor trackster, Marx holds UW’s 6th fastest time ever in the 100m and 200m. His honors include twice being named to the All-Mountain West Indoor team as well as All-Mountain West Conference in the100m outdoors. Lastly, he added Academic All Mountain West honors in 2017, 2018, and 2019 to go along with his being named to the Dean’s list at UW during his time.
