Donald W. Jewett graduated from Big Piney High School in 1925 and in 1930 he graduated from the University of Wyoming. In 1965, Don received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Commerce and Industry, University of Wyoming.
Don's distinguished service record in the community and state includes nine years on the Big Piney Board of Trustees, fourteen years as Sublette County Commissioner, two years in the Wyoming House of Representatives and eight years in the Wyoming Senate. In 1974, he served as President of the Senate and was an eight-year member of the Council of State Governments, Western Division.
Don owned and managed a ranch between Daniel and Big Piney, commonly referred to today as the "Jewett Place." He served for eighteen years on the Wyoming Stockgrowers Executive Committee and four years on the local Bureau of Land Management Advisory Board. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.
