Kim Tanner was a four sport participant as a Lady Puncher and distinguished herself state wide in both swimming and volleyball. As a swimmer, Kim earned All-State honors as a freshman and again as a junior as she helped a talented Puncher swim team to four top four finishes including two runner-up finishes at the state meet. Individually, Kim won the 100 yard Fly as a freshman and repeated the feat as a junior setting state records along the way. Overall, Kim place in the top four in all of her individual and relay events while performing at the state meet. As a sophomore volleyball player on the Class B State Runner-up of 1976, Kim distinguished herself as an All-Conference selection and exceeded that with Class B All-State honors. The following year Kim was again an instrumental part of Big Piney's State Championship Volleyball team. Her senior year was no less impressive as she repeated her Class B All-State honors. Over-all, her teams had three top three finishes at the state meet during her years as a Lady Puncher. “Tradition Never Rests” and for Kim Tanner the statement is even more evident as she returned to Puncher athletics as a very successful head coach for the Lady Puncher volleyball team.
