Jenna (Chandler) Banks
Class of 1987
Upon graduating in 1987, Jenna Chandler extended her formal education by enrolling at the University of Wyoming. In 1992, Jenna earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematic Teaching. While being employed as a teacher, Jenna also found time to pursue a post graduate degree at UW. In 1997, she earned her Master’s Degree in the Science of Teaching Mathematics.
Jenna began her teaching career by gaining employment as a math teacher at Evanston’s Davis Middle School. After a two-year stint in Evanston, she sought employment at Mt. View High School and spent the next five years there as a high school math teacher. Now in her twenty-fourth year at Big Piney High School, Jenna Banks’ career has spanned more than thirty-one years.
In addition to her work for Big Piney High, Mrs. Banks has also taught courses for Western Wyoming Community College via teleconferencing. She continues instruction for WWCC, as she teaches College Algebra to the students of Big Piney High which enables them to earn college credit while in high school.
In Big Piney, Jenna chairs the Mathematics Curriculum team, she serves as a peer mentor advisor and has been the Senior Class Sponsor for many years. As the senior class sponsor, she is responsible for the graduation ceremony each year. For her work, Mrs. Banks has received numerous awards. Selected by her peers, Banks has been Teacher of the Quarter on four separate occasions. In 2017, Sublette County District 9 selected Jenna Banks as the District’s Teacher of the Year. In 2015, following an extremely high finish by one of her students in the National Trig Star Test, Jenna Banks received a prestigious Richard E. Lomax National Teaching Excellence Award.
Not to let any spare time go unnoticed, Jenna Banks has served as coordinator for the yearly St. Anne’s Community Christmas Bazaar. No small feat in itself!
Jenna cherishes her time with her students as she watches them grow, develop and choose a path forward in life. Her greatest pride however is that of her own family. She along with her husband, Jeff, have watched their four loved ones grow, develop and choose their way forward in life.
