In 2001, Travis Stevens' graduation ended one of the finest athletic careers at Big Piney High School. Travis was a four year letter winner in track and football and added three more letters in basketball. As a football player, Travis was a three year all-stater and was instrumental in the state championships of 1998 and 2000. Travis' versatility allowed him to be both a successful running back and an outstanding receiver. His even greater offensive asset was found in his kicking abilities. Travis kicked thirteen field goals in a season including being four of four of field goals over fifty yards in length. Travis was selected as Player of the Year for the Rocky Mountain Conference his senior year to go along with his All-Conference selection and was later selected as state Player of the Year for the 2A classification. He was later selected to the Super 25 by the Casper Star and was a finalist for the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Award. As a track athlete, Travis accomplishments are just as noteworthy. As a four year All-State performer, Travis placed fifteen times at the state meet in eight different events including three individual first place finishes and was a member of the 4X100m relay that set a state record. The state record stood for only two years before eclipsed by another Puncher group of four many of whom were his teammates on the previous record setting year. During his four years of track, Travis, along with his fine group of teammates, won three state championships and started a string of state championships that ended two years after his departure. Upon graduating, Travis continued his athletics with a four year stint for the University of South Dakota's Coyote football team in Vermillion, SD.
