Haley Lockwood earned eleven letters as a Lady Puncher. Her outstanding athletic career was matched by her scholastic and leadership achievements. While a student, Miss Lockwood was inducted into the National Honor Society and was honored by being selected a delegate American Legion’s Girls’ State as a junior.
Athletically, Haley lettered four years as a basketball player. She also attained three letters as a volleyball player for the Punchers.
It was her track ability and accomplishments that elevates Haley above the rest. As a four-year letter winner, she established herself early in her career as a state leader. As a freshman, Haley found gold as a member of the 400m relay champions. Individually, she scored a fifth in the 100m hurdles, an eighth in the 200 and added a third place as a member of the 1600 relay. As a sophomore, Lockwood found individual gold in the 100m hurdles. She added individual medals with a third and fourth place finish in the 100m and 200m respectively. Her junior year again found her scoring in each of her three races but also showed her versatility with an eighth finish in the shot. Her second-place finish in the 100m hurdles secured her third all state honor as a Puncher track athlete.
During her senior year, Haley owned the fastest times in the state 2A classification in the 100m hurdles, the 300m hurdles and the 200m dash. Unfortunately, a foot injury sidelined Haley for the regional and state competitions.
Despite the injury, Miss Lockwood was awarded a scholarship to continue her track career as a Cowgirl for the University of Wyoming. Haley participated for UW for two seasons before the persistent foot injury sidelined her for good. A truly outstanding track career.
