The Big Piney Athletic Hall of Fame would like to remember Mike Murdock for his athletic career as a Puncher by inducting this fine student/athlete into the Hall of Fame. Mike was a 1961 graduate of Big Piney High School and was not only active in athletics, but was also active in almost all the activities offered by the school at that time. Athletically speaking, Mike had a great career as a Puncher. Perhaps best known for his football abilities, Mike was twice named to the All-District team and followed those selections by being named to the All-State football teams his junior and senior years. Mike was a standout on the basketball team where he played all four years and he was also a track athlete during his last three years as a Puncher. Mike Murdock was extremely active in Big Piney's student government and was on the Student Council his sophomore and senior years and was elected President of the school body as a senior. He was also active in Junior Legislature. Not to hold back on opportunities, Mike was also cast in class plays as well as two years in the all school play. Mike's popularity within the school can also be witnessed by his selection to both Homecoming Royalty and Prom Royalty. Upon graduating, he was selected by the school body as the Most Popular Senior. Mike Murdock is no longer with us, but he and his accomplishments as a Puncher student/athlete will now be enshrined in the Big Piney Athletic Hall of Fame.
