Jodi (Eskelsen) Druckenmiller
With a runner-up finish in the high jump at the 1992 Wyoming State Track Meet,
Jodi Eskelsen’s outstanding athletic career came to an end. This Big Piney
multisport athlete also attained academic honors during her high school years.
Being named to the National Honor Society as well as numerous WHSAA
Academic Awards highlighted her academic successes.
As a volleyball player, Eskelsen was a three-year starter for the Lady Punchers.
Jodi was named to the first team All Rocky Mountain Conference in both her
junior and senior seasons. By a vote of the Wyoming 2A volleyball coaches, Jodi
was selected to the Wyoming Coaches Association 2A All-State team. She was
offered a chance to continue her volleyball career at Black Hills State University
but decline the opportunity.
The winter’s sport season found Eskelsen on the basketball court. A four-year
letterwinner on a young and struggling team, Jodi, along with other determined
teammates, continued to work and improve as the years progressed. Eventually
the work paid off and the Lady Punchers qualified for the 1991-92 Wyoming State
tournament. During her junior and senior seasons, Eskelsen was received first
team All Rocky Mountain Conference honors.
As an individual athlete, Eskelsen found success as a high jumper for the Puncher
track team. She qualified for the state meet all four years of high school. As a
freshman, Jodi finished sixth place in her specialty. She also joined teammates to
secure state places in the 400m relay and the 1600m relay. As a junior, she upped
her finish to fifth place in the high jump setting a school record in the process. As
a senior, Jodi claimed All State honors with her second-place finish at the
Wyoming State Meet making her a two sport All-State athlete for Big Piney High
School.
