This 1978 graduate of Big Piney High School was awarded a Trustee's Scholarship to the University of Wyoming and for the next eight years dedicated his life to the study of medicine. In 1982, Dr. Schueler graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. At the University of Wyoming, he belonged to the Sigma Chi Fraternity and served as its President in 1980. He was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa as well as Alpha Epsilon Delta pre-med society.
He continued his medical education at the University of Utah and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1986. While at the U of U, Dr. Schueler did research entitled, "House Call Practices in Utah". It was published in the Western Journal of Medicine and in 1987 Dr. Schueler presented his research to the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine at its New Orleans Conference.
Moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan, Dr. Schueler finished his studies and completed his residency. While in Michigan, this Big Piney graduate worked at a migrant workers clinic in 1987 through 1988 and also expanded his expertise by serving as an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine for the University of Transkei, South Africa, in 1989 -1990.
Following his stint in Michigan, Dr. Schueler came home to Wyoming where is now Chief of Staff at the Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo. He is currently the Director of Johnson County's Emergency Medical Service and is the county's Public Health Officer. Dr. Schueler also offers his knowledge of medicine as an instructor for Advanced Trauma Life Support and has served as a Clinical Instructor for the University of Washington since 1998. Dr. Schueler is a member of the Wyoming State EMS Task Force and received a Governor's Award of Service in 2007 honoring his work as an EMS Medical Director.
