Nancy (Budd) Espenscheid
Class of 1963
Nancy Budd graduated from Big Piney High School in 1963 and has spent most of
her life in this Sublette County community. After graduation, Nancy enrolled at
the University of Wyoming where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Political Science. During Nancy’s sophomore year she found herself earning
credits from the University of Seven Seas. An interesting semester aboard a cruise
ship visiting and studying in countries around the world. Over these many years
since, Nancy Espenscheid has actively involved herself in a variety of committees,
boards, and organizations at the local, county and state levels.
At the local level, Nancy has found time to offer her service as a member of the
Board of Trustees for Sublette County School District #9. She was on the very first
Green River Valley Museum Board. She has served on the Big Piney Library Board.
She has been active in the 4-H Foundation as well as a 4-H Horse Club leader.
Nancy’s committee work at the local level includes being a member of the
Chuckwagon Days committee, the Ag Center Building committee just to mention
a few. Nancy has also been a long-time sponsor to the Big Piney High School
Rodeo team.
As a concerned resident of Sublette County, Nancy Espenscheid has served on the
Sublette County Hospitalization Board, the Sublette County Fair Board. She has
been a member of the Sublette County Artist’s Guild and has served as their
President. She is a life-long member of the Green River Valley Cattlewomen
Association. Nancy is currently the program director for Sublette County’s “Climb
Wyoming” chapter, an organization to strengthen ties within Wyoming families.
At the state and national levels, Nancy Espenscheid is president of the Wyoming
Chapter of Holistic Resource Management, a conservation and land management
organization. She also serves on the Cowboy Hall of Fame State Board to help
ensure that Sublette County cowboys are given all the credit they deserve to earn
that prestigious Hall of Fame distinction.
As Nancy puts it, “I love this community and have tried to do all I could so this will
remain a great place to live.”
