Jared McDonald was a three sport standout for Big Piney High School and lettered eleven times during his Puncher career. He also excelled in the classroom where he earned academic recognition from the Wyoming High School Activities Association as well as the Wyoming Coaches Association. In addition, Jared was a finalist for the National Football Foundation’s Scholar Athlete Scholarship for Wyoming.
Although a standout in each sport, football was where McDonald received most of his accolades. He was named to the Rocky Mountain All-Conference team as a junior and senior. In his senior year he was selected the Conference Player of the Year. All-State honors were also bestowed on this Puncher during both of these seasons. The Casper Star Tribune named Jared to it’s Super 25 Team which is inclusive of all Wyoming classifications. Lastly, McDonald represented Big Piney impressively in the 2004 Shrine Bowl at which he was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the game. During his time on the field, the Punchers won three conference titles as well as two state championships.
McDonald was a letter winner three years as a basketball player and part of two Rocky Mountain Championships.
As a track athlete, Jared qualified for the Wyoming State Track meet in each of his four years. During that time, the Punchers won four Rocky Mountain championships. He placed in four events his senior year helping the Punchers to a third place State finish. During his prior three years, McDonald helped in relay events that scored and was part of three State Championships.
