This life-long resident of Big Piney has contributed so much to so many people during her days since her graduation from Big Piney High School. After her graduation, Deanne followed her dream of becoming a nurse. She attended and graduated from the Holy Cross School of Nursing in Salt Lake City.
In 1978, Deanne was the school nurse for the Big Piney School system. In 1980, she began her work for Dr. Bill Close and continues to work with the numerous programs started during her work with Dr. Close. Deanne was instrumental in setting up the annual health fair and the group “Nurses for the Health of It”. She continues to help draw blood at both ends of the county and in the past organized blood drives to aid accident victims or for surgeries requiring additional blood transfusions. As a result of her work, Deanne received a Certificate of Recognition as the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year. In 1999, Nurse Bradley received the State of Wyoming Nurses Association’s Community Service Award for making her community a healthy place to live. Deanne is currently president of the Community Home Care Program that continues to help people of all ages and all sorts of needs in Sublette County and the surrounding areas. She and her group of volunteers drive many miles to make sure patients get the help they need at various doctor offices and hospitals in SLC, Jackson or Idaho Falls. Nurse Bradley has always believed, the more you give, the more there is to give.
Outside the medical field, Deanne Bradley has worked extensively in a variety of clubs and organizations. Deanne served seventeen years on the Sublette County Fair Board. As a token of appreciation, the outdoor stage was named in her honor. She has also served six years as a board member for the Sublette Retirement Center and more recently on the Marbleton Senior Center Board and the Senior Housing Board for the independent living apartments. Teaching and mentoring have always been a big part of Deanne's life. For over 30 years Deanne was a 4-H leader and attended many conferences. She presented “Stress and How to Deal With It” to a regional leadership conference in Boise, ID.
A cattleman’s daughter and a cattleman’s wife, Deanne was a charter member of the Green River Cowbelles/Cattlewomen and has served in each office of the group including the presidency in 1991-92. In 2014, Deanne Bradley was awarded Ranchwoman of the Year.
Deanne Bradley’s motto is: Work for a cause NOT applause. Live life to express, NOT impress. Don’t strive to make your presence noticed—just your absence felt. Her tireless work and dedication to the people of Big Piney and the surrounding area prompted the late Dr. Bill Close to say, ” Deanne Bradley is a hell of a nurse and a friend to so many of us. It has been a privilege to work for her over the years.”
