This 2006 graduate of Big Piney was a three sport standout for the Lady Punchers. Janet attained a total of nine letters while performing in basketball, swimming and track. She also attained recognition for her academic standing by being selected as the 1A/2A Southwest Wyoming Female Athlete of the Year.
As a swimmer, Janet Rose qualified for the state meet on three occasions and was All-State honorable mention as a part of a relay team for our Sublette County Swim team. As a basketball player, Ms. Rose lettered twice and was selected to the All-Conference team her senior year.
It was her performances as a trackster that earns Janet Rose Hall of Fame honors. This four year letter winner met All-State standards on six separate occasions and stood on the awards stand no less than fourteen times at the state meet. Over this speedster and jumper's four years, she placed towards the top in both the 100m and the high jump in each of her years. Janet and her relay teammates won the 400m relay all four years and set a state record in the process. That record (50.69) is still the standard to be met at the Wyoming State Meet. During her last three years, she helped the talented Lady Punchers to two third place and a fourth place finish at the State Meet. She was selected Ms. BPHS Track during three of her years.
Athletics did not end with her graduation. Janet went on to perform as a heptathlete at Idaho State University and later as a sprinter for the University of Wyoming for a number of years. Still not through with sports, from 2010 – 2013 Janet was employed by the Tampa Bay Rays of major league baseball and is currently the Community Relations Director of the NHL’s Nashville Predators.
