Anthony Tomassi
Class of 1966
After graduating from BPHS in 1966, Anthony Tomassi attended Montana State University - Billings earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Immediately after attaining his degree, Anthony pursued a Master’s Degree in Special Reading and graduated from MTSU Billings in 1971.
The Big Piney School District hired Anthony as its Special Reading Instructor. After a two-year stint, other business and career opportunities became available. In 1974, Tony along with his father and brother acquired E&L Motors in Kemmerer. A few years later they added Frontier Ford to the dealership. The group was in business for the next forty-eight years!
Local politics and volunteerism were a major part of Tomassi’s years in the Kemmerer area. Anthony’s first taste in politics came as an elected member of the Lincoln County #1 School Board serving from 2006 – 2008. Tony was then elected to the Kemmerer City Council in 2008 and served eight years in that capacity. Then in 2016, he became Mayor Tomassi and a four-year term directing Kemmerer City government.
Anthony was a member of the Kemmerer Lions Club for forty-nine years serving the members with terms as President, Secretary, and Treasurer during that time. Currently, Tomassi has maintained his board position on the Kemmerer Community Foundation as well as that on the Southwest Wyoming Economic Development Board.
Indeed, from the Little League Coach in the late 80’s to recently volunteering at the Oyster Ridge Music Festival, Anthony Tomassi has given his time as well as financial support to many needs of the communities and county.
Anthony and his wife of fifty-five years, Kathy, currently reside in Evanston and they still offer themselves as volunteers when and wherever needed.
