Robbie Douglas was a three sport athlete for Big Piney who attained All-State honors in each of his sports. Robbie was also a three year letter winner and starter on a talented basketball team that won sixty-six games in his three years including three conference titles, two third place state finishes and a consolation championship. As a track performer, Robbie again achieved All-State honors as both a junior and a senior. As multi-event participant at the state track meet, Robbie found himself placed between two Puncher team mates in the pole vault in 1963. Robbie's brother, Jim Douglas, won the event and Joe Gurney placed third. It is the only time in track history that the Puncher swept an event at the state meet. In football, Robbie was a four year letter winner. He was an instrumental part of the 1963 undefeated Puncher team and was named to the All State team. After graduation, Robbie went on to continue his basketball playing career on scholarship at the University of Utah. As a freshman, he saw considerable playing time and was expected to have a great career ahead of him for the Utes. Unfortunately, Robbie lost his life in an accident before his sophomore year. The University of Utah lost an promising basketball player and Big Piney High School lost a member of its athletic family.
