Cornelia Fear, having lived her entire life in Big Piney (1897-1964), was a member of the first class to graduate from Big Piney High School. She married Clifton A. Fear, Sr. and raised four children: Clifton A. "Pete" Jr., Kenneth "Buss", Edythe Barp and Cornelia Robinson, all of whom graduated from Big Piney High School. She had twelve grandchildren, seven of whom also graduated from Big Piney.
Mrs. Fear was an active ranch wife who was a full partner in the ranch and later in the corporation. She was a member of the Catholic Church, helped to build the existing church, and was instrumental in obtaining the services of a full time priest.
She was very active in the community. She served on the school board and was mayor of the town. While mayor, she was responsible for getting water and sewer for the town. She worked diligently to get the first medical facility completed and helped promote a community hall for social activities. That hall is presently on the site of the Sublette County Fair Grounds.
Though Mrs. Fear spent a great deal of her time toward community improvements, she was hardly provincial, having traveled to forty states and three continents.
