Coach Mack Rawhouser’s experience at the Big Piney schools covered over thirty years and a variety of different assignments and levels. His success is evident at both the Big Piney Middle School as well as Big Piney High School. Arriving in Big Piney in the fall of 1976, Coach Rawhouser immediately began coaching and continued to do so until the spring of 2009. His work with both the boys and girls basketball programs as head coach highlights much of his career.
As the head boys basketball coach for eight years, Coach Rawhouser's team established a win/loss record of 124 - 44. During those eight years, the talented Punchers qualified for the state tournament six times culminating with a state runner-up in 1982. His 1983 and 1985 teams won the state consolation championships. For his efforts, Rawhouser was selected as the conference coach of the year twice and in 1987 was selected as the Wyoming Coaches Associations Boy Basketball Coach of the Year. In 1983, he was selected to be an assistant coach in the first ever Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star games.
In 1990, Coach Rawhouser began his stint as the head girls coach and did so for the next six years. He resumed this position again for the 2008/09 season after his retirement from teaching. During these seven seasons as coach, his girls established a record of 101 wins against 60 losses. His talented teams qualified for four straight state tournaments and his 1995/96 team won the state's consolation champion's trophy. He was selected the Rocky Mountain Conference Coach of the Year on three occasions and in 1992 was selected as the Wyoming Coaches Associations Girls Basketball Coach of the Year. It was in 1992 that Coach Rawhouser was selected as the head coach for the WCA All-Star games.
During his tenure in Big Piney, Mack also coached football at both the high school and middle school. He was an assistant coach of the 1977 Wyoming State Champions. He assumed the role of head middle school coach in 1978 and his teams were undefeated for the next three seasons.
For his service to the Wyoming Coaches Association as a sport representative and as the All-Star games coordinator for many years, Mack Rawhouser was awarded the prestigious WCA Distinguished Service Award in 2011.
Currently, Mack Rawhouser is serving the Sublette County District 9 Schools as Vice President of the Board of Education and is the representative for Region 5 on the Wyoming State School Board Association. He was most recently selected by the State School Board Association to serve on the Wyoming High School Activities Association's Board of Directors.
