extended blind contour drawing

First I made the blind contour drawing in class, the only thing I used was a Sharpie, I later then went back in with a pencil ( just a regular cheap mechanical pencil)to mark out where I would be painting/ drawing. When I was happy, I then used watercolor to create a depth behind the three blind drawings. First my Project was bland and boring because of the lack of things to look at, I then turned it into a somewhat abstract piece using watercolor, posco marker (acrylic paint?), and a sharpie.

I used line, shape and contrast the most I think, I used “line” for the red swirls and I also used “contrast” with the watercolor, using the black watercolor behind the three blind drawings makes everything pop a little more.

There really isn’t a story behind this piece, I simply did what looked cool, and red swirls were “cool” at the time I was brainstorming. The piece does not relate to my life at all, I think I was most proud by the red swirls, it was a last decision change and I think I did it for the better. I was going to make the swirls look a little more “realistic” so to speak, but I changed my mind and made them “flat”, layered onto the blind drawings to make it look refreshing. I think the hardest part was trying to figure out what to do with the blind contour drawings, simple as that.
