I created this piece with the idea of my objects spinning. Instead of my subject falling or being crushed, I tried to think about how else my objects could move. Originally I wanted to focus on two things: spinning and having that generate heat. I ended up just doing the spinning aspect because it focused more on my SI. I also wanted to distinguish the
I started with graphite, to create a black-and-white scene, so that when I went back in with pastels they'd pop more. I was thinking of using watercolor for the background, and I kinda wish I did. But the thought process was that it would match the pastel spikes on the objects more, but maybe they didn't need to.
I decided early on to use pastels for the objects' spikes because I wanted the impression that they were moving. I wanted to continue to use smudgy materials because I liked how I could capture movement with them. I also just want to get better at pastel/charcoal.
