investigation #1

purple greed

canvas, acrylic, gold/silver leaf, elmers glue

I created this piece with the idea of "Greed" in mind. I wanted my goblin to showing off his wealth, and I wanted color to be able to show that he is wealthy. Part of my investigation is finding new materials, and I don't use acrylic really, especially an entire piece. Gold leaf was something I have never used before and it was a struggle.

I used pre-primed canvas, acrylics, and gold and silver leaf. I started by making the background color purple, then I sketched out my goblin, painted everything layer by layer. And finally glued the gold leaf on.

I used the color purple because purple historically represents wealth, and of course gold also represents wealth. I made the perspective very slanted because it feels like he is showing off his more. And I thought it would be more fun.
