I wanted to show sadness in this piece, through material synthesis. But I also wanted contrast, so despite the the candle man being blue (color of sadness), the background is bright and colorful.

I used clay so that I could make it look most like a candle, and acrylic so I could utilize bright colors. And matboard as the base.

The blue and orange are contrasting colors and make a very pretty product, which contrast the emotions the candle man is having.
