beautiful oops

hokey pokey

colored pencil, India ink, white paint marker

9x6"

I created this piece of a single ink droplet, as soon as I saw the droplet I imagined a gnome and kind of created the piece from there. I originally wasn't going to make the background the way that it is now, I was going to make it a monochrome, but then I thought it'd be more interesting If I added some color.

I started by filling out my droplet more with india ink, then I went and made the footprints/clouds/rocks from colored pencil, and the rest is also colored pencil.

I decided to make the background colorful because I wanted contrast, but I decided not to color in the surrounding area because that too would contrast with the neon colors. So in a way, I made two different contrasting points. I also made the new bit sharp and angled as opposed to the blobby round parts to again, contrast.
