Overarching Inquiry Questions:
#4 conceptually and #1 skillfully. But overall probably #4 because of the depth I created with all the layers of gouache. It also has the most materials out of all my pieces, but they still connect to create one piece. It's also very "contrasty", and it also feels like it has the best composition.
Probably #2. My experimentation with the paper towel is good, but it doesn't fit and doesn't connect (unless you read my explanation, but from a visual standpoint it doesn't work).Â
I've struggled with spending more time on pieces than I should. My ideas have not been flowing out as much as they were last year, and I think that's because of the fact I have to account for the fact that I'm taking the Drawing portfolio this year. Last year I just had to come up with an idea and execute it in my style. This year I have to come up with an idea, then see if it even works for a drawing portfolio, and then execute it after that week of experimenting. So really just producing the work in time.
Just produce pieces and ideas faster, and fully switch my mind over to drawing. Or maybe come up with materials that give me that drawing effect (with textures and movement).
I wanna try encaustics, block prints, screen prints, maybe dying fabrics, or paper towels like in #2.
I think I'm getting the hang of Drawing more, and conceptually my work is developing (#4, #5).
Black and white pieces, 3D elements, come up with a more concrete idea for the rest of my pieces, and more background details.
