sustained inv #6

I wanted to create a piece that literally moved since that's why I'm so focused on movement. I asked myself "What could I do to make my question more literal?", and this was my idea. I also used this opportunity to use pastels, a material I've been wanting to use

I came up with the idea for how it moved first and then I came up with the object inside. Most of the time spent on this piece was coming up and building the piece so that it could move. 

I used pastels because they are very texture on their own and they give me a sense of movement. I wanted to add more personal textural elements, using my nails to carve into the pastels.
