linolium prints

linoleum print, ink, colored pencil

11x9"

I created this piece intending to create an abstract form through a linoleum print. I started by coming up with a bunch of shapes, then refined my idea through a sketch. I also had to figure out how to highlight the parts that would get lost through the black ink.

I used linoleum to create a print that I made by cutting it with a linoleum carver, then I applied ink and started printing. It took around 10 prints to get the two that I wanted.

For the extended version, I wanted a background that would contrast the hard, and spikey form. I also wanted it to contrast colors, although the form doesn't have colors, I would assume it would be a mixture of very dark colors.
