What guided me through this piece was designing characters, I really wanted to create larger characters with emphasis on circular body parts. First I thought like a sumo wrestler, and so I made a sumo wrestler styled character. 

I used pencil and paper, I then later added some characters with ideas of how they would be colored. I used a TON of eraser for these pieces, I really wanted to get all the proportions right.

I first thought of everything round, and for some reason "larger" people came to mind. It took me not to long to come up with the first character, I was actually impressed with how I made the feet and hands.
