I made these t-shirts for a makers fair, and the idea for the characters was the embodiment of happiness and sadness. The angel block print is happiness and the big guy is sadness. I wanted to use much different materials so I took the makers fair as an opportunity.

I used printing blocks and carved them out to create my block prints. Then I slapped it down onto the shirt and used a hand press to press it down evenly, and finally I would move he press in a circular motion around the block print. Then I would lift it up and reveal.

I wanted the characters to kind of "embody" their emotions, so that's why happiness is kind of like an angel. I wanted it to resemble a bright shining ray of light, so thats why the wings and hands are sticking outwards on all sides.
