investigation #2

irony angel

gouache, prismacolor pencils, watercolor paper, printed paper

6.3x4.15 inches

I created this piece with my sustained investigation question in mind, "how can I show different emotions and the purpose of living". In this piece I try to show purpose of living with religion. I made the angel a goblin because angels are supposed to be pure and pretty, which is the opposite of a goblin. I also wanted to focus more on surroundings and the general background and foreground because its not something I do often.

I used watercolor paper, gouache and colored pencil. There is also a bible cover printed on the back of the paper. I first sketched out my idea then went in with gouache and colored pencil on top for finer detail things.

I made the surrounding dark in comparison to the angel, to make it clear that the angel is where you should be looking. I also made it seem that the angel was fighting off the darkness.
