holy smokes

water color, micron fineliner

I created this piece with the idea of death and how it is inevitable (inspired by memento mori). But smoking does not only speed up that process, but it tortures you in the process.

first I sketched out a skull, then filled the skull with cigarettes. After I colored the entire thing with watercolor, then finally added micron to the cigarettes.

I really had no idea what I was going to do, so I instinctively sketched out a rough skull. I then started to think about an art style/trend where people would draw something with words relating to whatever they were creating. So I filled in the blanks in my head and came up with cigarettes and how its smoke creates a skull.
