Charcoal Drawing

For this project we made a charcoal drawing, most people chose animals while I didn’t have any photos on my phone so I drew a rose from the internet. We were told to grid a piece of paper, as well as the photo (printed), then we went from box to box drawing the piece. I used Charcoal, a Graphite Pencil, White Pencil, and an Eraser.

I used Value and Color to create Pattern in the piece. Value was mostly created when blending and shading the rose, while Color is basically the same.

I think the thing I am most proud of in this artwork is the consistency. You can see that the shading is pretty on point (in person the shading looks more accurate) and the petals are pretty accurate. On the other hand, I am least proud of the color; the piece is not as grey-toned as the actual photo, instead, I would have colored the rose white, then added shading on top.
