arrive alive

I created this piece for the Arrive Alive competition, I had the idea to do an animation when our teacher showed us Mia's animation for the same competition. I originally was going to make a piece with a car falling apart with bits flying off like paper, but when I tested it with the animation I just got so many more ideas. 

I wanted to start with a sketch, but I thought it might be better if I threw myself into the whole animation and figured it out. So that's what I did. I started with a base sketch for the whole animation and then went back in and finished it. I had to split it up into 4 different projects because I used up all the layers for each. 

I used monotone colors for the majority because I could emphasize things much easier like headlights or eyes. It also makes it seem more like night, and I think it looks much prettier. I also wanted the orange to pop out, and what better way than with blue?
