tidal shift

oily depletion

digital (procreate), iPad

I created this piece based on a climate change project for the Tidal Shift Competition. The idea behind this one was how our oil resources are slowly depleting and being sucked up with no way of renewing. Shown by the sink having no drain pipe, only pipes taking oil in. I also purposefully used digital materials, because I thought it was silly to use paper for an environmental project. People trying to say things on paper about the climate is ironic in my mind.

I started my sketch digitally this time, which is a change from my usual process because I knew my idea immediately.

I spent most of my time on the oil, I wanted to get the look of oil without making it too dark and risk pushing out the sink and pipes from the focus.
