John Gill's Story:

John Gill enlisted in the Air Corps in 1942. He was immediately put into training, where he learned to take apart a gun and put it back together blindfolded. In his war experience, Mr. Gill flew a total of 50 missions before he went home. In the interview, he often mentions his good friend, Frank Cook. His job in the Air Corp was a tail-gunner. This meant that he would crouch in the back of the plane and shoot the German and Italian planes from behind. John Gill was the tallest U.S. tail-gunner in WW2. Throughout the interview, Mr. Gill will talk about his moments in combat, his visits to to the small town in Italy, and his own personal thoughts on the War and how it changed him.
