Arden Schofield's Story

Arden Schofield was born in Braintree Massachusetts. Growing up Mr. Schofield was a very talented musician with the piano, and would later earn a master's degree in music at Boston University. However when WWII began Mr.Schofield thought it would be appropriate to go serve his country in war. Mr.Schofield was serving in the US Army's 106th infantry division in Germany when he was captured by the Germans in the Battle of Bulge. After being captured Mr. Schofield began the life as a Prisoner of War, in which he'd go through camps such as Germanys’ most notoriously disturbing camp "Bad Orb". Throughout his time at these camps he'd often think of food he'd like to eat to hold him over in between meals when he was hungry. Just when Mr. Schofield thought he'd seen the end of the tunnel he was freed from camp by U.S General Patton. After returning home Mr. Schofield became a substitute teacher at a local school and currently lives in Liberty Commons, a nursing home in Chatham, Massachusetts. Arden Schofield is a very great man, he's a talented musician and a strong survivor after enduring months as a POW.
