Donald Peltier's Story:

Donald H. Peltier grew up in Acushnet, MA and went to high school with the goal of graduating. Once he graduated high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps with the intent to serve his country. His family was surprised but they did understand why he wanted to go into the military. Donald began his training in boot camp which he described as strenuous bases on the activities they did to get in top physical shape. Donald was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War, while he was serving his role was that of search and destroy. His expectations were to seek out the enemy and disrupt their daily routine by any means possible. During the time he was in Vietnam he got injured and was in a coma for a couple months before he got discharged from the military, and finally went home in 1970. He was awarded with a Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, and Vietnamese Campaign Medal. Now Donald resides in Sandwich, MA after serving his country from 1968-1969 in the Vietnam War.
