After attending the Armour School, William started his service at Fort Knox in Kentucky working with the military tanks Due to his devoted work, Mr. Lambert became a Second Lieutenant. He resided at Fort Knox from July 12, 1953 to June 30, 1954.

His service ended prematurely when Mr. Lambert suffered a severe head injury in 1954. Against all odds, William made a miraculous recovery and returned to Worcester where he met his wife, Charlene who he raised six children with. Today, William lives in North Eastham with his wife.
