"There are countries in this world, ... that everyone has to ... serve as young people and
in my opinion it's a great experience.
It teaches the young people a lot of things ... It's a chance to get from under your mother's skirts and get out there and learn what's going on in the world."

Francis Guiliano's Story:
Growing up, Francis Guiliano worked hard in high school to make honor roll. During his sophomore year, Francis made the varsity basketball team and became lead scorer. Francis' success continued as he became captain of the team during his senior year, but his momentum stopped after he broke his arm and lost his scholarship. With this new reality facing Francis, he reflected his father and enlisted in the Navy to join the Korean War. He had a few good memories of his experience of the war, but has some bad memories aboard the USS Beatty. After the war he was able to go to college and lead a successful life.
