"And I remember, I had my fingers crossed. I had my fingers crossed because I thought, 'You know, this is my generation's war, and I don't want to say that I didn't go, or that I didn't do my share.
If I want to, if for no other reason, I want to see what it's like for myself."

Marvin Stout's Story:

Marvin Stout grew up in Denver, Colorado. At 19 years old, he enlisted into the Army in November, 1966 with the support of his family, which had been serving in the military for generations. He was drawn to the army because his father had advised him to; due to the increased levels of opportunity the branch offered. From there he entered Military Intelligence School. Immediately after entering Vietnam, Marvin was assigned to guard duty. Serving in the 9th infantry division in the Mekong Delta, Marvin would help the local villagers by building schools and providing medical attention to the villagers, all the while trying to get information about the American prisoners of war. Marvin was a witness to and experienced one of the largest military campaigns in the Vietnam War, known as "Tet Offensive". At the end of his 37 months in the military, Marvin came out as a Sergeant, accompanied by numerous awards for his service and the memories of experiences that made him into the man he is today.

Now, in 2015, Marvin lives with his wife in Harwich, MA. He has been living on Cape Cod since 1975.
