Johnny Strong's Story:
Johnny came from a small town by the name of Glomawr, Kentucky . Glomawr was a coal mining town and Johnny thought he would have to follow in his fathers footsteps. But he opted for the other option which was to join the military. He wanted to join the Army, but the waiting list for enlistment was too long so he decided to join the United States Air Force. After enlisting in the Air Force he was sent to basic training camp at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. During his 13 week stay at basic training camp he was given aptitude test, in which he was tested mentally and physically. This test determined where you would best benefit the Air Force, he scored high in electronics. Thirty-two days later he was finally in Korea. He arrived in a place called K-14 right outside of Sole, Korea. A couple of days after arriving in K-14 he was assigned to Osan Air Force Base, Korea. When he was at Osan he was assigned to air traffic control. His specific job was to watch air craft movement over the 38th parallel. After being assigned to Osan Air Force Base for a little over a year he was assigned to North Truro Air Force Station, MA, where he finished his time in the military. He retired as a Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force. Currently Johnny lives in East Liverpool, OH with his girlfriend.
