Mike Garcia's Story:

When the word "hero" is spoken, I think of a veteran. More specifically I think of one man, Michael Garcia. He has proved himself a worthy and very accomplished veteran. When growing up in Fair Haven Massachusetts, he realized he wanted to leave, and to travel. So he decided to join the United States military, despite the war that had just started in Vietnam. Despite know that a good friend had lost his life in the midst of combat. As he pushed through many difficult obstacles in his training's, he developed the mind of an American hero. He served in Vietnam, among his comrades which he tried so hard to keep up with his fore they were three to four years older than him. His worked paid off as I remember in our interview, a quote he made which I will live by for the rest of my life “You always want to give everything one-hundred and ten percent. Because if you give it fifty percent you'll get fifty percent of shit." he was referring to US special forces, which he would have gotten accepted into if it weren't for his defected hearing caused in Vietnam. The Green Berets refers to the soldiers of the Special Forces which is the most elite force in the military. Mike went through all the training a green beret would have gone through which includes an E and E school. E and E stand for escape and evade school, were you are captured and tortured. Mike passes this school. I find him a true hero do to his ability to overcome hardships and then go back for more.
